Raewyn McCausland is a barrister with more than 15 years' experience. She has previously worked as a prosecutor and during the last 11 or more years of her career has specialised in criminal defence.
Raewyn has experience representing people charged with all levels of crime. She has represented people facing drug related charges as the result of large scale Police surveillance operations and also clients charged with serious violence. Raewyn is known for her meticulous attention to detail and clients can be assured that she will scrutinise and test any prosecution case with vigour.
Raewyn is committed to ensuring that all clients have equal access to justice and she understands that people facing less serious allegations deserve the same level of dedication and robust representation. Her experience is of value to clients facing any level of charge and when appropriate she will test the admissibility of evidence obtained by a prosecuting agency when it has been obtained unfairly or in breach of a client's rights. She has achieved successful outcomes for many clients in pre-trial applications, applications for bail, applications for discharge without conviction, sentencing, name suppression and limited licences.
Raewyn has represented clients facing allegations relating to drugs, serious violence, fraud, dishonesty, sexual offences, family violence, fisheries offences and driving related matters. She also has experience representing numerous clients who have appeared before the Parole Board. Raewyn is also available to provide advice and representation to clients facing prosecution by regulatory agencies. She has a particular expertise in fisheries-related matters.
